[металлический] радиатор-теплосъёмник, теплоотвод

применяется для рассеивания в окружающую среду тепла, выделяемого мощными ИС (микропроцессорами и др.), и предотвращения их перегрева. Для этого при его установке обеспечивается плотный физический контакт с корпусом (chip carrier) защищаемой от перегрева микросхемы. Теплосъёмники бывают пассивными (passive heat sink) и активными (active heat sink) - последние оборудованы собственным вентилятором и применяются для охлаждения процессоров.
